OFFLINE TESTING

To determine the level of discharge on new switchboard installations and other high voltage plant LIVE HV can provide Off-Line partial discharge testing. The asset to be tested is charged with a discharge free transformer while discharge measurements are taken from a coupling capacitor connected in parallel with the test object.

Off-Line testing is conducted after pre-commissioning of a switchboard to confirm factory testing and more importantly ensure that there has been no faulty workmanship during the installation.

Off-Line testing can also compliment On-Line monitoring by testing individual components such as CT’s, VT’s and bushings to confirm the level of suspected discharge.
