Who we are

The History of LIVE HV

Since 2009 LIVE HV has serviced High Voltage networks throughout Australia and New Zealand, honing our skills and developing our experience across the full spectrum of MV and HV testing services.

As the first Australian providers to specialise in Partial Discharge Testing, our expertise is unmatched in Australia & New Zealand. LIVE HV has continued to expand our services, offering commissioning, shutdown maintenance, asset condition assessment, HV testing and engineering solutions to partners across all industries. We couple internationally renowned technology with highly trained, locally based technicians, empowering LIVE HV to deliver rapid results and collaborate efficiently and effectively with engineers.

Our mission

Our purpose is to provide our partners with the solutions required to improve your HV networks efficiency, maximising asset lifespan and minimising downtime. Across commissioning, maintenance, HV testing, asset condition assessment and fault finding LIVE HV’s goal is to work with you to provide an expedient service, coupled with empirical advice, enabling asset managers to make informed decisions, optimising their HV network.

Some background info on the people of LIVE HV.

Jackson Hill
Jackson HillManaging Director, Principal Engineer
Jackson Hill founded LIVE HV in 2009 overseeing its development as Managing Director and Principal Engineer.

On completion of his Electrical Engineering degree, Jackson joined Reyrolle Pacific Switchgear in NZ before relocating to Melbourne. Prior to the establishment of LIVE HV Jackson travelled to Manchester, UK to be trained and accredited by Partial Discharge experts HVPD whom he represented as an agent for the Asia/Pacific region.

Jackson has completed a Bachelor of Technology and Master of Science from Waikato University, NZ.

Away from work Jackson enjoys competing in ironmans, rugby, fishing and spending time with his young family.

Warren Whitham
Warren WhithamEngineer
Warren joined LIVE HV as an Engineer in 2023. He is responsible for customer liaison and project management.

Warren joins LIVE HV with a wealth of experience working for major switchgear manufacturers and engineering service companies in a sales and business development capacity. His expertise extends to installation and commissioning support along with the development of maintenance plans and asset condition recommendations.

Warren is a registered Engineer having obtained a bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from RMIT University.

Outside of work Warren enjoys going 4WD off roading and exploring the great outdoors.

Nagesh Rama Iyengar
Nagesh Rama IyengarCommissioning Engineer
Nagesh joined LIVE HV as Relay Protection Expert in 2023. He is responsible for providing customer solutions in all facets of Relay Protection.

Nagesh joins LIVE HV with decades of experience in substation commissioning with a major focus on programming, testing and maintenance of switchgear protection. Having worked for major switchgear manufacturers across the world Nagesh has unparalleled experience with numerous types of relays.

Jaspar Matters
Jaspar MattersTest Engineer

Jaspar joined LIVE HV as a test engineer in 2018. He is responsible for testing and analysing results from a range of High Voltage assets.

Jaspar joined LIVE HV following 4 years at Newcrest Mining Cadia Valley, gaining experience in both surface and underground operations; installing, repairing and maintaining electrical equipment and machinery.

Jaspar is a registered A-Grade Electrician having obtained a Cert II and Cert III in Electrotechnology.

Outside of work Jaspar enjoys tennis, squash and loves to get away camping.

Zac Mortimer
Zac MortimerTest Engineer

Zac joined LIVE HV as a test engineer in 2022. He is responsible for testing and analysing results from a range of High Voltage assets.

Having worked for NZ Utility Marlborough Lines, Zac is experienced with substation construction and commissioning while developing an expertise in substation operations and maintenance.

Zac is a registered A-Grade Electrician having obtained a National Certificate in Electricity Supply (Level 4).

Away from work Zac enjoys rugby league, cycling, soccer and attending music festivals

Nick Walmsley
Nick WalmsleyTest Engineer
Nick joined LIVE HV as a test engineer in 2023. He is responsible for testing and analysing results from a range of High Voltage assets.

Nick is an exciting addition to the team following 11 years working for British company HVPD. As a test and installation engineer, he has gained experience working on sites across Europe, Africa, The Middle East, Asia, and Australia. His roles included testing, PD sensor installation, equipment training and providing client support regarding best practice predictive maintenance.

Having worked for the manufacturer Nick is trained and qualified in PD sensor installation and testing while his expertise in the field of partial discharge solidifies LIVE HV’s esoteric position in this field. Nick holds NVQ Level 3 and HNC Level 4 certifications in Electronic/Electrical Engineering.

Outside of work Nick is a keen traveler who has visited countries most people don’t even know exist and enjoys running, cycling and fitness training at the gym.

Matt Coleman
Matt ColemanEngineer

A highly skilled engineer Matt brings an analytical and practical approach to LIVE HV.

Matt has completed a Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical & Electronics) Hons at the Swinburne University of Technology and is currently completing a Masters in Engineering.

Away from work Matt spends his time with house renovation and adventure activities such as mountain biking and orienteering.

Paul Cook
Paul CookOperations Manager & Assistant Technician

Paul joined LIVE HV as Operations Manager in 2019, additionally providing assistance with on-site jobs. With previous roles in business development and data analysis Paul brings a problem-solving mindset to LIVE HV.

Paul has completed a Bachelor of Commerce & Administration from Victoria University of Wellington and a Bachelor of Business Finance from UniSA.

In his spare time Paul enjoys golf, fishing and riding motorcycles.

Alanah Jarvis
Alanah JarvisAdministration

With a friendly demeanour Alanah oversees the LIVE HV Quality, Health and Safety Management system to ensure all LIVE HV services are provided with outstanding quality in a safe manner. She also provides contract and administration support.

Previously working in quality improvement in healthcare, Alanah has a Masters in Public Health and brings a wealth of experience and fresh approach to LIVE HV.

A dedicated mother to three young children, Alanah is a talented artist and enjoys paddle boarding amongst various outdoor activities.
